As we enter this holiday season, I’m reminded how much of our joy comes through our senses. It is the flavors and the scents, the glowing candles and the sounds that connect us to the moment, to each other and to traditions we hold dear.
At the same time, however, I know how big the task of the moment is being present to all of our blessings, all those sights and sounds that fill our hearts. That’s why during this busy time of year I make slowing down and checking in a priority—because it forms the foundation for everything that we do. And I don’t want to miss a moment of the fun.
Before gathering with friends and family this season, it’s such a beautiful practice to bring intention into every aspect of the celebration. When you are wrapping even the simplest gift with intention, it makes a difference. When you’re present in the moment, you can sing along with a favorite holiday tune, or take extra time to absorb the sweetness of the moment fully before capturing it on your camera. You can create a favorite holiday dish with reverence and gratitude, or spend an extra moment sharing the magic of the season with a child.
While coming into the moment is the work of a lifetime, it’s also so simple. When we unplug and dedicate some time each day to spend in silence, or out in nature, it amplifies the joy in all that we do.
I hope your holiday season is filled with love, light and joy.
